FishPopTrace aims at facilitating information and data acquisition in the area of fish and fisheries research. For this purpose a project-crawler is currently developed. The crawler explores at regular intervals the internet and accesses web-sites of formerly identified projects for relevant research information (e.g., fish species investigated, genetic markers used etc.). The acquired information is archived and made accessible as summary statistics through an interface providing a search menu. This will ultimately allow interested stakeholders to find out quickly and in a comprehensive manner about past and ongoing scientific activities related to specific fish species, geographical areas, research field etc..
